Save the Children Fiji’s COVID response food distribution has received a timely boost with the donation of 86 Food Packs worth $5,100. from the Sai Organization of Australia.
Members of the Sai Organization Mr. Himen Chandra and Mr. Krishna Raju said the Sai Organization of Australia was pleased to be able to facilitate the donation of food packs to support Save the Children’s Covid Food Appeal, specifically for those facing extreme difficulties during this time of national crisis brought on by the Covid-19 Pandemic.
Assisting those in need is part of Sai Organization’s duty to the broader society, and this donation commemorating Sai Baba’s 96th advent, through Save the Children is targeted to assist those families needing urgent care.
Save the Children Fiji’s Chief Executive Officer, Shairana Ali, acknowledged the partnership with the Sai Organization of Australia and stated that partnerships are vital to ensure that each family that is facing hardships because of Covid-19 is provided relief. She thanked the Sai Organization of Australia for their generous support and confirmed that their donated food packs will be distributed to 86 Covid-19 impacted families in the central division.
Save the Children Fiji is continuing its food distribution through the delivery of grocery packs containing much-needed food supplies to families in need in the Suva-Nasinu corridor and Nausori and the western division.
Aimed at helping single parents, families with young children, families who have children with special needs and grandparents looking after their grandchildren, the organisation has had more than 3000 requests for assistance and has distributed more than 1350 food packs providing food security to more than six thousand individuals, including infants.
